When we first accept Christ we become a child of God and begin the process of learning to follow him. During these early formative years God tries to impress upon us the importance of learning the most basic skills and knowledge of our faith. These truths, like flash cards in our mind, must be practiced on a consistent basis so that each time an opportunity or challenge presents itself we reflectively know how to respond in a godly way. The book of Philippians deals with one of those most basic truths-being joyful in every situation.
