OASIS Our Core Values—Part 2 “Refreshing Community?
The Great Command… ‘Love Your Neighbor’ Philippians 2:1-4 (Pg. 831) If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Authentic Biblical communities are Environments where we experience Life on Life Romans 15:1-2 (Pg. 805) We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. 2Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. Eccl. 9:11 (Pg. 477) I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.
Authentic Biblical communities are Magnets where Life Stories are revealed Psalm 142:4 (Pg. 446) Look to my right and see; no one is concerned for me. I have no refuge; 1 Peter 4:8 (Pg. 859) Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. |
